Countdown to Commencement

Rules for FSU’s Spring Commencement

We extend our warmest congratulations to all graduates and their guests. As we celebrate this milestone together, we kindly ask for your cooperation to ensure a memorable and dignified ceremony for everyone present. 
For the comfort and respect of all attendees, disruptions to the proceedings will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to outbursts, excessive noise, heckling, the use of noisemakers or any behavior indicative of intoxication. Violators will be promptly escorted from the premises to maintain the solemnity of the occasion. 
For the safety and security of all individuals, please note certain items are not permitted within the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. Anyone found carrying such items will be escorted from the facility. 

The following items are prohibited:

  • All flags and signs (with or without sticks or poles) 
  • Alcohol or illegal drugs 
  • Weapons or explosives 
  • Food or beverage from outside the Civic Center 
  • Coolers or containers, including cans, cups and bottles 
  • Backpacks 
  • Artificial noisemakers (whistles, bells, air horns, etc.) 
  • Video equipment, tape recorders, cameras with lenses longer than 6” 
  • Laser pointers 
  • Laptops 
  • Pets (except service animals) 
  • Skateboards 
  • Beach balls or other airborne objects 
  • Fireworks 

Additional items may be prohibited at the discretion of law enforcement officials.

FSU to hold six commencement ceremonies May 3-4

Four distinguished graduates of Florida State University and a U.S. congressman will be the featured speakers during FSU’s spring commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4, at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.
