Rules for FSU’s Summer Commencement

We extend our warmest congratulations to all graduates and their guests. As we celebrate this milestone together, we kindly ask for your cooperation to ensure a memorable and dignified ceremony for everyone present. For the comfort and respect of all attendees, disruptions to the proceedings will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to outbursts, excessive noise, heckling, the use of noisemakers or any behavior indicative of intoxication. Violators will be promptly escorted from the premises to maintain the solemnity of the occasion. For the safety and security of all individuals, please note certain items are not permitted within the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. Anyone found carrying such items will be escorted from the facility.

The following items are prohibited:

  • All flags and signs (with or without sticks or poles)
  • Alcohol or illegal drugs
  • Weapons or explosives
  • Food or beverage from outside the Civic Center
  • Coolers or containers, including cans, cups and bottles
  • Backpacks
  • Artificial noisemakers (whistles, bells, air horns, etc.)
  • Video equipment, cameras with lenses longer than 6”
  • Laser pointers
  • Laptops
  • Pets (except service animals)
  • Skateboards
  • Beach balls or other airborne objects
  • Fireworks

Additional items may be prohibited at the discretion of law enforcement officials. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

FSU to celebrate 2024 summer commencement Aug. 2

Florida State University will hold its summer commencement ceremonies on Friday, Aug. 2. Distinguished speakers Charlie Ward and Tim Cerio will address the graduates.

The 9 a.m. ceremony is for all doctoral students who wish to attend Commencement and will include faculty hooding.

The 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ceremonies are for bachelor, master, and specialist degree candidates who wish to attend Commencement.

Honor Cords

Graduating seniors who received an email indicating they are eligible to receive an honor cord

should pick up their cord during the following dates and times below.
